Mrs. Ashwini Angadi
Ashwini Angadi was born to Mrs and Mr Prakash Angadi in an ordinary Indian family with good values for life. She was born with complete visual impairment and her parents felt that the disability was unfortunate. But they gave her good upbringing, support and education with values.
She studied at Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind and at NMKRV College and at Maharanis College at Bangalore -India and stood first despite her visual impairment and became a graduate.
She worked as a HR person in an MNC but her heart was not at peace as she believed that her destiny was elsewhere and resigned the job and joined as a national facilitator for Young Voices, a campaign by young people with disabilities initiated by an , NGO Leonard Cheshire Disability.
At a very young age of 23 she achieved many laurels for her social work in the field of educating and empowering the disabled and underprivileged.

UNITED NATIONS Special Envoy for Global Education’s Youth Courage award for Education, part of the Malala Day Celebrations on July 12, 2013 at the world body. Here Malala said that henceforth world Malala day has to be renamed as Ashwini Angadi day. She raised her voice and started helping the disabled, fight for rights enshrined in the U.N. Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Queen’s Young Leader Award on June 22, 2015 in London and is one among the three people selected for this award from India which was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II AT BUCKINGHAM PALACE. Ashwini Angadi was one among the three people selected for this award from India considering her keen interest in establishing the Belaku Academy in June 2014 to provide education for visually-challenged children in Bengaluru with a motto to facilitate them to have a dignified life. Queen’s Young Leaders award was set up by Queen Elizabeth II to recognise exceptional young people from across the Commonwealth
She attend a world class conference called ’Global Education Skills Forum’ organized by Gems Education at DUBAI. She in the conference spoke on the topic ‘Education for girls with disabilities’, was among the 850 eminent people from around the world of policy, business, academia, development and finance who came together to consider new ways of tackling education crisis. Delegates from 59 countries ranging from the United States and United Kingdom to Mongolia, Serbia and Montenegro. Among them 7 former Heads of States and Prime Ministers, 32 education ministers, 13 chairmen of large companies, 45 CEOs and many scholars.
She launched Limca Book of Records ‘People of the Year’ 2016. 2016 along with Venkatesh Kini, President, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia, Arthy Singh, Sr. Editor, Limca Book of Records and Bhawna Bhede, 3D Rangoli Artist, Limca Book of Records Holder from Maharashtra.
Her personal struggle and achievement is a great encouragement to all specially, for the physically challenged children of India and world as a whole. So far government has not came forward to support her in her great mission. She believes, getting education is only 50 percent of human-life but helping and giving to society will make one’s life complete.
IN 2016 SHE DECIDED TO DEDICATE HER LIFE FOR THE CAUSE OF VISUALLY AND MENTALLY HANDICAPPED AND STARTED BELAKU ACADEMY-A FREE RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLFOR VISULLY IMPAIRED AND MENTALLY HANDICAPPED POOR CHILDREN.THIS SCHOOLRUNS UNDER THE NAME ASHWINI ANGADI TRUST.
WITH THE HELP OF HER FATHER PRAKASH ANGADI AND HER CO TRUSTEE DR S.PRADEEP THE SCHOOL TODAY HAS 35 VISUALLY IMPAIRED POOR CHILDREN
