Radha Kulkarni

Mrs. Radha Kulkarni (Vimal Page) hails from the “Page” family from Gadag known for education, literature and all the fine arts.

She is the recipient of more than 100 awards out of which nine are national awards.Also the grand-daughter of Shri Huilgol Narayan rao, who wrote the first State song of Karnataka, “Udayavagali namma cheluva kannada nadu”. It is but natural that she inherits literary acumen from such a personality of great repute.

She worked for 40 years as a teacher and is a recipient of number of awards including the prestigious President’s award for teaching.

After retirement, she has contributed to the field of literature by writing 11 books. Among them, “Antoo Kannu Teredavu” received “literature award” by Karavali Sahitya Pratisthana, Kasargod in 2005, “Vikasa” received “Attimabbe Prashasti”, “Huilgol” – Narayanarayaru – Jeevana Sadhane received two Literary awards – Dr.Pandit Puttaraj Sahitya Puraskara Rajya Prashasti conferred by Dr. Pandit Puttaraju Seva Samiti, “Literature Award” by Rukmini Bai Trust.

A city based organisation honoured her, Mr. Niraj Patil, and Ms. Ashwini Angadi in March 2014. This chance acquaintance where Ashwini expressed her desire to commence a school for visually impaired children, has culminated into a joint effort to make the dream come true.

She is committed to social work in more ways than one. For the past 12 years, she has been conducting free summer camps under the banner “Utkarsha” with Cartman Foundation and Sadhana Foundation at Cartman Park, Koramangala.


She has conducted summer camps for slum children of Koramangala, Rajendra Nagar, Ambedkarnagar in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

11th May to 18th May 2014 a camp was conducted and 32 children were taught various activities like yoga, singing, dancing, origami and calligraphy, where Ms. Ashwini Angadi was the chief guest.
